Focus Works
Elective theses resulting from a lecture, seminar or seminar week at the chair are given priority. It is possible to write projects on a current elective subject/seminar or on a lecture. Team projects are welcome. In exceptional cases, the chair also supervises a free topic in the field of art and architecture.
An independently initiated, creative process in methodology, content and form is expected.
Great importance is attached to a personal attitude in which the individual or general relevance of the project topic is expressed.
The spectrum of possible working techniques includes written and graphic works (book, card catalog, poster, etc.), audio and film works (radio play, interview, video, etc.), multimedia works (blog, web application, DVD, etc.), visual works (photography, collage, sculpture, painting, etc.) to performing works (lecture, performance, theater, etc.). The theoretical and practical development process of the project is important for all working techniques. Method, content and form should be coordinated.
Interested students should send an abstract of no more than one page by email to the chair in advance.
This should formulate the central question, thesis etc. that is to be addressed in the elective project.
Subsequently, the concept will be discussed in a first meeting at the chair and the revision or further procedure will be determined.
For the second meeting, we ask for a two-page synopsis in which the aim, method and planned
planned implementation of the elective thesis, including a timetable.
The project is concluded with a final meeting or presentation (examination).
In order to give the supervisors sufficient time for appropriate discussion, the elective thesis must be submitted one month before the examination date.
6 credit points are awarded per project.
