Oral History Archive for Contemporary Art and Architecture
The external page Oral History Archive for Contemporary Art and Architecture was initiated in 2007. It collects interviews with protagonists in the art world and architecture in Switzerland. Inspired by the Archives of American Art (AAA), Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. it aims to provide interviews both for researchers and the interested public.
For the most part the interviews originated in seminars taught at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. The interview projects focused on the beginnings of Art Basel (2007), the art scene in Zürich in the 1980s (2008), the development of Video art in Switzerland (2009), the history of art history in Switzerland (2010), female architects in Switzerland (2013), the history of the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta), ETH Zurich (2015-16). 2011-2013 the SNF-DORE-research project Kristallisationsorte der Schweizer Kunst der 1970er Jahre: Aarau, Genf und Luzern investigated the art scenes in Aarau, Geneva and Lucerne in the 1970s.
