Philip Ursprung is member of the Zentrum Geschichte des Wissens, a competence center founded in 2005 by ETH Zürich and Universität Zürich.

He is Principal Investigator of the project "Tourism and Cultural Heritage: A Study on Franz Junghuhn" at Future Cities Laboratory, Singapore-ETH-Center, Singapore.

In 2013 he was awarded the Golden Owl for excellent teaching by the student assocation of ETH Zürich.
In 2017 he was awarded the Prix Meret Oppenheim by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture.
