Lecture
History of Art and Architecture V: Gordon Matta-Clark

Lecture History of Art and Architecture V (063-0315-11)
Organizer: Chair of Prof. Ursprung
Lecturers: Prof. Dr. Philip Ursprung

The course deals with the work of the american artist Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978). It focuses on the interrelation between architecture and urban design and presents the central elements of his oeuvre (video, sculpture, photography, drawing).

More than others, Gordon Matta-Clark has articulated the limits between art and architecture. His interventions into buildings, his use of video and film, as well as his treatment of language has effected art and architecture until the present day. This collaborative structure of his art works and the combination between practice and theory remain a model for the current architectural and artistic realm.
