Desire Lines:

Following Tagliamento, the Last Alpine Wild River

The seminar week will bring us to Tagliamento, the only important river in the Alps not yet regulated by human intervention. The Tagliamento flows from the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the border area of Austria, Italy and Slovenia, to the Gulf of Venice. We will follow its course, experience its morphology, learn about the complex history of the area, and discuss our own involvement. Pier Paolo Pasolini retreated near the river during the Second World War. With his novel Amado Mio in our pockets we will discuss the relations of history, narration and desire. Our journey will culminate by crossing the lagoon to Venice.

Start: Monday, 20 March 2023, 6 a.m. Busbahnhof Zürich Sihlquai
End: Saturday, 25 March 2023, Venice, Lido
(individual return by train)
